Cadence Mercer is Iris’s twin brother and fellow paranormal investigator. Blind since baseline, Cadence experiences his environment through an extraordinary sensitivity to vibration that extends far beyond conventional echolocation. Air pressure, structural movement, machinery, bodies, resonance fields and matter displacement form a continuous sensory landscape around him.
Like Iris, Cadence is a genuine physical and cognitive speedster. He can convert resonance into enormous physical pressure wavefronts, making him particularly dangerous to systems built around vibration and frequency. Through CROSSFEED, Iris supplies the visual channel he lacks while Cadence supplies the vibration and auditory dimension she cannot naturally perceive. Together, they experience something neither possesses alone.
Abilities
Total Vibration Perception detects movement, pressure, machinery, bodies, harmonics and resonance fields.
Can produce powerful two-handed resonance and pressure wavefronts.
Superhuman physical speed allows extreme traversal and combat acceleration.
Accelerated cognition processes enormous amounts of sensory information almost instantly.
CROSSFEED allows him to receive Iris's visual perception.
Can detect disturbances traveling through structures long before conventional senses would register them.
Weaknesses
His natural perception provides no conventional visual image when CROSSFEED is unavailable.
CROSSFEED weakens as distance separates him from Iris.
Extreme vibration environments can create competing information that becomes difficult to isolate.
Large resonance attacks place demands on endurance and control that are not yet fully understood.
He can become overconfident when an environment appears completely readable through vibration.
Stillness, isolation and heavily dampened environments deprive him of some of his richest sensory information.
