The set of comic book storylines that is being adapted to film. Originally slated to replace the single title “Genus: Unknowable” (created somewhere in 1998), Residual Cell became the name around 2011 and sat on ice for a decade and a half. Only until the building of this website, did it make more sense to change it back.
Plus the change didn’t land well with one of the more dramatic lines one of the characters says at some point, so it was switched back (it also adds more weight to the original concept and fully respects the writers intention by reverting the dialogue to its original form).
The intended target became the “30 sec scene” in 2004, but it was the impossible starting point. The work never managed to get traction for a multitude of reasons
We started playing with AI (specifically AI Video Generations) in November 2025. It didn’t come out bad, but it didn’t quite arrive at what was expected, so we picked up another story to play with. Before we knew it we had 5 stories and the Residual Cell concept had new meaning.
The plan is to take what was intended to be a set of comics that would become movies, and cut to the movies as comics instead…this way we get more of the story in smaller chunks than 1h 20m, but at faster intervals than cinema at 20-30m “Issues.”
More to come, but Residual Cell will be designed as a full feature film, released at Film Festivals in 2027 and then available upon film release, and per subsequent issue releases.
