Iris Mercer is a paranormal investigator from a neighboring Earth where encounters with the unseen are disturbingly ordinary. Deaf since baseline, Iris perceives something far stranger in its place: dimensional and resonance geometry normally invisible to human senses. Hidden corridors, phase structures, false surfaces and the paths taken by beings moving outside conventional space can all become visible to her.
A genuine physical and cognitive speedster, Iris can analyze those structures fast enough to act on them in combat. Her countergeometry does not create arbitrary effects; she must first understand what she is looking at. Alongside her twin brother Cadence, Iris participates in CROSSFEED, allowing their incomplete individual perceptions to combine into a third, more complete view of reality.
Abilities
Dimensional Sight reveals hidden seams, doors, standing-wave corridors and phase architecture.
Countergeometry allows her to disrupt or redirect dimensional structures she can fully resolve.
Superhuman physical speed allows rapid movement, evasion and close-range combat.
Accelerated cognition lets her analyze complex spatial structures in fractions of normal time.
CROSSFEED allows her to receive Cadence's vibration and auditory perception.
Can visually track dimensional routes that appear impossible to ordinary observers.
Weaknesses
She cannot counter geometry she cannot clearly perceive or understand.
Chaotic, rapidly changing or obscured structures can overwhelm her ability to resolve them.
CROSSFEED weakens as distance separates her from Cadence.
Her deafness leaves her dependent on visual information when CROSSFEED is unavailable.
Her instinct to solve the structure of a problem can delay action when immediate instinct would be safer.
She has difficulty abandoning a puzzle once she knows something is hidden inside it.
